The Black Advisory Hub (BAH) is seeking a new Student Co-Chair to join its Steering Group for a two-year term (2026–2028).
The BAH was established to support Black students at the University of Cambridge and is guided by a Steering Group made up of students and staff from across the collegiate University. As part of its commitment to student–staff partnership, the Steering Group is co-chaired by a staff member and a student. We are now recruiting a new Student Co-Chair to succeed the current student co-chair, Tyra Amofah-Akardom.
This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the strategic direction of the Hub, represent Black student perspectives, and work collaboratively with stakeholders across the University.
About the Role
The Student Co-Chair will:
- Co-chair termly Steering Group meetings alongside the staff co-chair
- Work closely with the Project Associate to identify priorities and activities
- Represent the Black Advisory Hub on relevant University committees and networks
- Support engagement with Black students, societies, and wider communities
The role is ideally suited to a Black postgraduate student who has completed at least one year of study at Cambridge and expects to remain at the University for the duration of the role. Experience in leadership, student representation, or involvement in Black student communities would be advantageous.
Time Commitment and Structure
- Easter Term & Summer 2026: Shadowing the current co-chair
- 2026–2028: Co-chairing termly Steering Group meetings and contributing to monthly executive meetings
Remuneration
The Student Co-Chair position itself is a voluntary role. However, there may be opportunities to undertake paid project work alongside this role (e.g. contributing to the First Year Induction Programme, essay competition judging, or research projects)
