Black Advisory Hub

The Black Advisory Hub is keen to develop and support staff from across the collegiate University who are, in turn, interested in supporting their Black students' experiences at Cambridge.  Please contact us if you have a proposal for joint-initiative involving Black students or staff.

APP Participatory Action Research Project

If you are a staff member who is particularly interested in working to eliminate the Black awarding gap in your course or discipline, you might also like to find out more about Cycle 5 of the Access and Participation Plan's Participatory Action Research Project (the APP PAR Project). This project coordinated by the Cambridge Centre for Teaching and Learning and involves twenty student research assistants per year.  Funding is not given directly to staff in this project, but students are recruited and paid for twenty hours of work each. The APP PAR Project will once again be working with student-staff partnership teams on initiatives that will address the Black awarding gap in 2023 - 2024.  Please contact Dr Ruth Walker, CCTL, for more information about how to get involved; we are particularly interested in providing opportunities for our student researchers to work with course teams or Departments in investigating student perspectives of their educational experiences through qualitative research methods, to fully understand the factors that lead to the statistical awarding gaps.

University Diversity Fund (UDF)

The University Diversity Fund is held yearly and provides grants of up to £1500 and is open to applications from students and University staff. The UDF supports initiatives across the University that aim to challenge discrimination and inequalities, increase the representation of under-represented groups, raise awareness of issues related to equality, diversity and inclusion, and facilitate implementation of good practice at the University. The scheme is coordinated by the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion unit: you can contact them here for information about the 2023 scheme:  equality@admin.cam.ac.uk

Alexander Crummell Fund

The Equality Diversity and Inclusion Unit coordinates these grants to support anti-racism projects and initiatives across the University of Cambridge. Indeed, the Black Advisory Hub was launched with support from this grant scheme in 2020-2021. Contact the EDI team for more information about the 2023-24 timelines and application progress:  equality@admin.cam.ac.uk
